What: Laughlin's Classic Car Collection Where: Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort, Laughlin, Nevada As a boy, I gained an appreciation for classic car shows through my grandfather's passion for them. This is one he never got to see but I am sure it would have been his favorite, because it's definitely mine. Probably the next best collection I've been to with my grandpa was at the old Imperial Palace Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. One of my favorite parts of this collection is the display about the guy who rode his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle around the world. It's an awe inspiring display of an incredible journey, and if, like me, it leaves you curious about the details, you can also buy his book, which is a great read. As a museum and interpretive center aficionado, I am impressed with the descriptions and stories, of which there are many, even one about a WWII bomber on the way out (don't pass by the Japanese flag without stopping to read about it). Overall, this is not only a robust collection of cars, it provides a broad spectrum of history. Also, don't forget to check out the other showroom, the one at the front of the building, which houses more vehicles but also includes a beautiful collection of slot machines (the vehicle that drove the creation of this place if you read the Don Laughlin story). Finally, there is a really nice gift shop that includes a lot of Route 66 items.
